Bird Poop Conversion

dirty-windshieldI was driving along trying to see my way around the bird poop on my windshield.

The mess had been there a few days. I hadn’t gotten around to taking care of it.

As I was getting in the car I noticed it had even drawn some flies.

I was not a happy driver.

It seemed the longer I drove the more distracting the muck became. I needed to get where I was going so I couldn’t take the time to stop. Then, about the time I thought my vision would be obscured forever, it started to rain.

Ah ha.

raindropsAll I had to do was turn the knob to activate the wipers and, sure enough, the mess slowly disappeared. I didn’t have to do another thing.

The incident reminded me of conversion.

We get to the point where our lives are looking pretty messy from the inside out.

And we realize we’re not able to clean them up by ourselves.

It’s too big a job, especially when we’re occupied with other things. We need capable and effective outside help.

All we have to do is activate the cleaning process. We humbly speak to God about the sinful mess we’ve made and how we need Him to intervene. As we recognize Christ took on the wrath we deserve, without any further effort on our part, our sin is forgiven and the mark against us is removed.

What could be less complicated?

“I [the LORD] will cleanse them from all the sin they have committed against me and
will forgive all their sins of rebellion against me.”  Jeremiah 33:8
