God in the Fog

clockThis is an appropriate season to remember that
God is an on-time God.

“But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons.” Galatians 4:4-5, NIV1984 [underline mine]

CrecheThe day of Christ’s birth was set at the perfect time in history to fulfill all the promises and prophecies concerning the Redeemer described in Genesis 3:15. The Babe in the manger would become the blood sacrifice required by the Law so that those who come to Him by faith through grace would pass from death to life. Hebrews 9:22, Ephesians 2:8, John 3:16

Our Advent and Nativity celebration of this example of God’s perfect timing leads me to consider the possibility that He acts into our lives today in the same way.

Could it be that the Father brings every detail into my life … and your life … at “the appointed time” as the Galatians phrase is translated by David H. Stern in The Complete Jewish Bible? And if so, what does that mean … for my life … for your life?

If we received each circumstance of every event as God’s perfect plan unfolding at His perfect time the same as Christ’s coming to earth, how differently would we respond?

PAUSE & PONDER

I’m considering that perspective as I reflect back over the last days of the year that’s about to close. It chose the word clarity as I entered 2015.

FogI sought the LORD to lift the fog I felt obstructing my view and to reveal His will for me. I’m thankful to report that in that process He’s been giving me a pretty good look, a healing look at myself too.

And as is His habit, my Savior is granting me confirmation of His endless love and immeasurable grace, along with evidence of His perfect timing.

Psalm 100
A psalm. For giving thanks.

PraiseShout for joy to the LORD, all the earth
Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Perhaps you too chose a word … or a focus … or a resolution for 2015.
How did the LORD meet you through it? How has He made Himself known to you?

May the Father fill your days with the peace of The Babe.

with confidence in His providence,
Sandra
