It’s all for nothing.

farmhouseyellowEver felt that way?

You spend your days praying, caring, prioritizing, working, considering, toiling, discussing, tending, . . .

You apply yourself full-on to the tasks in front of you, seeing them as your Ephesians 2:10 assignment. Most days you’re content as you fall into bed at night. Others you’re so busy you don’t know how you feel.

BUT some days a sliver of fear makes its way into your thoughts.

depressedI’m working like mad, but I don’t see my dreams coming true.

I know I fall short, but my desire is to please the LORD and bring glory to His Name.

I expected at least a few positive results to appear by now.

Is this growing in grace thing a scam or some sort of joke?

When such thoughts start whispering to me, my best response is to put my fingers in my ears and turn my heart to the LORD.

A few days ago you would have found me folding my arms over my chest as I started to share my perspective with the King of kings about one more thing breaking down and going wrong. I was not happy about trying so hard for what seemed like …

nothing

Thankfully Holy Spirit touched my tightly set jaw and turned my face heavenward. His gentle touch softened my heart and reminded me to whom I was speaking.

It’s marvelous to me how even a few moments given to ponder who God is revives my soul. He’s the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, AND my Abba … Daddy. He’s not in the business of raising hopes only to dash them. He’s the definition of love and His business is mercy.

His Word reminds me how rich my life is when I settle into my relationship with Him. He grants wisdom, gives joy, opens eyes, delivers rewards. No, our efforts are not for nothing.

hands“The law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
The precepts of the LORD are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the LORD is pure,
enduring forever.
The ordinances of the LORD are sure
and altogether righteous.
They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the comb.
By them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.”  Psalm 19:7-11

Where do you find your encouragement to get up and go on?

with prayers for the Father’s power and peace over you,
Sandra
