It was a simple thing really. I opened the drawer to get my toothbrush. It was time for bed.
When I squeezed out the toothpaste I noticed there was a thin section in the middle of the tube. I’m the only one who uses that flavor so I had nobody to blame but myself.
I screwed on the cap and proceeded to press upward from the bottom of the tube. I wanted all the paste to be at the opening end so it would be easier to use.
When I laid the toothpaste back in the drawer I noticed that more than half the tube was empty.
I’d bought the tube a while ago, but I only use a tiny dab each time I brush.
How did that happen?
My thoughts kept pace with my brushing.
A little tiny dab each day and the toothpaste is half gone. Gee whizz.
Then I made the connection.
My spiritual life unfolds in the same way.
A little dab of faith carries me forward a step. Ephesians 2:8
A taste of the Father’s love gives me confidence to move ahead. John 3:16
A reminder of His promise to never leave me nor forsake me grants me a stride. Hebrews 13:5
A report of the Savior’s work of healing body and spirit brings me ahead another step. Luke 5:22-25
Dab by dab, step by step I make progress almost without knowing it.
Then one day I look back and realize God’s Word has been my light, keeping my feet from stumbling and showing me the way I should go.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119:105
I pray that you too are finding your way by the light of His Holy Word. Amen
with delight in His plan,
Sandra
