God to the Rescue . . . Yet Again

by Sandra Allen Lovelace  @SandraALovelace  #WallflowerWomen  #TimetobeYOU!

I started blogging July 31, 2007. In those nearly 12 years my deadline slipped by only a handful of times. The situations that kept me from publishing new material were severe. And circumstances conspired to sideline me this week.

Instead, here I sit at the keyboard determined to share God’s truth and beauty as He expresses Himself in my life. My Father’s intimate and reviving touch was as tender as it was powerful. Have you ever noticed how He does that?

Background
An expert assigned by the home warranty company came to evaluate the malfunctioning central air conditioning system. He told me there was an apparent leak which he reported to the insurers. Unsatisfied by his lack of exact explanation of how the leak came about, they sent two more experts for a second opinion.

The new guys’ discussion with me didn’t line up with the facts, among them the actual date of installation affixed to the unit and that the part was readily available which I knew wasn’t true. Thus, I was skeptical when the warranty company told me it would cost me over $2,000 out of pocket to solve the problem. Evidently “modifications” were needed.

What now? No idea. I started to stew, aka silently panic. Know what I mean? Share on X

Unfolding
My tale of injustice bubbled over when I stopped at the bank. By God’s design, a teller mentioned he knew a guy in heating and a/c. His rave review had me leaving a message for Don Moran, owner of Affordable Heating and Air Conditioning that evening. (864.238.4734) In a return bank trip the following afternoon, Don’s fan was surprised I hadn’t heard from him. He offered to contact Don for me.

Late that night, Don reached out to me saying he might have accidentally deleted my message in these busy, get-ready-for-summer-heat days. Our conversation was pleasant and his kindness a relief. Since he was going out of town for the weekend, he wasn’t sure if he could come by. He asked me to describe my place, and when I did, he amazingly knew my exact location.

And, by God’s design, Don had an appointment three doors down from me . . . in the morning. He promised to stop by and work on my system while he was powering up my neighbor’s. After I hit the red circle on my phone, I started weeping. I paced and wept as I poured out my gratitude to the One who rules my life with immeasurable compassion and mercy, knowledge and dominion. Oh how I want to trust You more completely?

Rescued
As he went about the service call, Don and I marveled over the divine intervention that brought his expertise to me while not overburdening his schedule. Since his visit, the a/c has been keeping me nice and cool as the daytime temperatures rise over 80 degrees. I revel in my Father’s great goodness, and look to Him to train my heart in this pit-of-despair to mountaintop-of-joy event.

LORD, please cause me to recognize and shut down the anxiety that baits me into forgetting You’re right here loving me and guarding me with every breath. Protect me from any stray thought that hints I might be able to handle even the smallest situation without bringing it to You. Reveal the wiles of Your enemy that work to entrap me. I still have so much to learn. Please grow me according to Your design and purpose. Amen

You will make known to me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.
Psalm 16:11*

Anxiety often hides a deeper emotion—fear, pride, anger, pain, …
What’s your first reaction when worry strikes? How does God rescue you?

with prayers for the Father to tend you with His gracious hand,

     Sandra

  1. Sandra, again and again I love hearing yours and others testimonies of God’s faithfulness in our lives whether in the big or small difficult situations of life. He is so so tender. Thank you for sharing so often how God has heard your cries and has Shepherded not only your soul but your needs physically: this time being the need for cool air in the hot weather! It is an amazing but not surprising story of His steadfast love for Sandra Lovelace. I love you dearly.
