It’s Time to Look Outside the Box for Solutions

Some of us find it difficult to come to grips with who we are, learn what life’s about, or figure out our purpose. We go to Scripture for answers, but the task is often daunting though Scripture offers general guidelines on how to live.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thess. 5:18

These are important principles, but what does God want us, you and me, to be doing … specifically?

For sure, we aren’t all meant to be speakers on a big stage. How boring would that be? To discover our call, we need to look outside the box. What sets us apart? We begin by remembering our Heavenly Father is a God of order, not confusion. He’s given each of us a unique combination of attributes for us to use in accomplishing the purpose He designed us for.

For example, a friend of mine is a whiz at shopping with coupons. She buys health and beauty items at great savings. What does she do with them, you ask? She shares her bounty with charitable causes and teaches other women how to coupon like a pro the way she does. Her gift saves her family—and others—hundreds of dollars a year.

Maybe you have a different gift, such as setting the stage for a party. You know how to decorate while keeping costs low. You display beauty and elegance in simplicity with every day materials—twigs and leaves, ribbons and buttons. Your creativity highlights the magnificence in ordinary items, the way Holy Spirit shines through the lives of ordinary Christians.

God’s given gifts to all of us and calls us to use them to worship Him. It only makes sense to start with His provision to uncover and them fulfill His purpose.

How has God blessed you?
What does that tell you about your purpose?
