Welcome to the final post of our Year of The Blue series. We began with Two Suggestions about how to express our gratitude to those who offer their lives in service to our neighborhoods and communities. History on the term Thin Blue Line, springtime ideas about creative expressions of Gratitude, and ways Fallen Officers are honored also appeared.
Articles on a variety of topics followed.
Our primary goal has been to honor those who wear The Blue,
to encourage our readers to pause and consider the dedication they offer and sacrifices they make,
and to make every effort to express appreciation and gratitude to the officers and staff around us.
In closing out this chapter I want to recognize some of those I’ve met along the way.
Officers of my local department, Greenville SC, have received my handshakes and thanks with grace. Some of them even recognize me as I approach. One of the officers is with me in the photo collage above.
The second photo is from a high school football game in Alabama. The officers’ unified respect for the flag and singing of the national anthem touched me deeply. And they too welcomed my handshake and appreciation.
The bottom photo is a recent find on FB. Seven Kentucky State Police officers and their babies provides the 1,000 words I’d like to write about seeing those in law enforcement as fellow human beings  with full, love-filled lives that they commit in service to our communities. The least we can do is offer our thanks.
