Life was closing in on her—responsibilities, decisions, relationships, busy days, mood swings, financial issues, . . . And to top it off she was experiencing what she called foggy brain. She pictured herself in a car that had rolled down a hill, crushed on every side from the barrage of impact. Alone, with no way to escape.

Have you ever been there? Are you there now?

Maybe like my friend Cindy, you wish you had some jaws of life handy. Then you’d be able to use the hydraulic rescue tool to create some breathing room and eventually free yourself. Firefighters use this powerful apparatus to extricate crash victims every day. However, it’s totally ineffective on the struggles of the human mind and heart.

No need to worry! There’s what I call a spiritual jaws of life and it’s available to everyone who breathes. His name is Jesus Christ. He’s the Son of God and His power is accessible to anyone who feels stuck—no matter the time, place, or circumstances. You just need to reach out.

How?

If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe with your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9).*

The Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins so that He might rescue us from this present evil age (Galatians 1:4).

Why?

Perhaps you know these truths and have taken that step, but you’re not sure if your situation is tight enough yet or if you qualify somehow for serious attention. Let me assure you God is big enough and strong enough and alert enough to respond to every call for help, big or small. Not only that, His love is what motivates Him not some list of priorities.

He rescued me, because He delighted in me (2 Samuel 22:20, Psalm 18:19).

He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears it, He will answer you (Isaiah 30:19).

No matter where we are in our faith walk, life presses in on us. Whenever we feel the tension, we can take hold of Jesus and let our spiritual jaws of life rescue us from every care … for His glory and our good.

Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).

How tight is the spot you’re in today?
Remember, Jesus the Christ is within reach.

May the Lord rescue you by His all-sufficient grace.,

Sandra
