God Sings

I love to sing. Do you?

And some songs speak to me more than others. How about you?

Lyrics that embed themselves in my heart express feelings that defy description. Or heal wounds that remain raw. Words too bold or tender to be revealed join with a melody and live.

In these moments, when I’m singing alone in my car or busy about a household chore, my mind, body, and spirit pause in unison and lift heavenward. Distractions’ clamor ceases and my connection with Jesus permeates my being.

Have you ever been there? Enthralled by the One who knows you best such that the world recedes to the distant background. Share on X

Singing communicates a clarity and richness often missing in basic speech. Perhaps the effort to compose notes into harmonies, choose words to convey a precise emotion or thought, and settle both pieces into a blended whole is what refines or enriches the process.

Or maybe singing is simply a divine gift, a treasure of the imageness we bear as God’s creation. Share on X

After all, Scripture teaches God sings over us. (Surely with a voice more harmonious than mine.)

The Lord your God is in your midst,
A mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.
Zephaniah 3:17, ESV

Songs of companionship, safety, peace, joy, victory, understanding, compassion, belonging, delight, . . .

What song do you want or need to hear?
Listen for His voice. He’s serenading you.

Music will be part of our gathering at Time to be YOU and Enjoy the Abundant Life.

Asking the Father to bring the women of His choice,

  1. Thanks for sharing this. My Mother in Law just suffered a stroke, and we’re watching her struggle with expressing her thoughts. This is a precious gift we have, of music, as she can be ministered to in song.

    1. Oh Sandy. I’m glad to hear God used my words to encourage your heart. I’m praying for Marie as well as you and John. <3
