Apple Pie Guarantee

apple pieWhen I was a kid I was never sure if it was worth it to finish my vegetables.

That’s because dessert was an on-again off-again sort of thing at my house.

The treat I longed for most was apple pie, but even if I ate all my spinach there was no guarantee I’d get a slice.

The uncertainty of any benefits caused me to leave more than one serving on my dish.

I’m grateful that scenario never happens with God.

Whether we don’t like what’s on our plate or we feel there’s too much, we can be certain of at least three built-in benefits as the chosen of the Most High King.

1. God is right beside us, calling us forward.

“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6,8, Hebrews 13:5

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

2. God is coordinating the details of our lives for our good.

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”  Genesis 50:20

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'”  Jeremiah 29:11

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”  Romans 8:28

3. God is laying a banquet table that includes desserts aplenty.

“In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”  John 14:2-3

a la mode“‘No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him'”
1 Corinthians 2:9

We don’t need to wonder if our humble willingness might end in disappointment.
God made the promises and He cannot lie.
In Him we have an Apple Pie Guarantee!

  1. A beautiful reminder…dessert at our house only happened sometimes…and when it did, eating all the food off our plates was a must 🙂
